Sanibel and Captiva Island Kiwanis Club collects retired laptop computers, which they restore and donate to children in need. Candidates to receive these computers are found through FISH and the Sanibel School. The Island Kiwanians also give resuscitated units to the Lee County Literacy Coalition and other local charities.
The club will perform a three-pass Mil-Spec erasure of the hard drive to write overall data on the hard drive, and apply a new operating system and programs to help the students.
